The Rega Planar 2 turntable returns to the line-up.

Rega has been making turntables in the UK since 1973.In 1976,the original Rega Planar 2 was released as one of the brand's first turntables.This new model benefits from 40 years of research and development.The company philosophy is of not spending one penny on marketing but spending those funds on research and development.The result is that Rega has won more awards for turntable design than any other company.

The Rega Planar 2 incororates a new 24v, low noise motor, float glass platter, newly designed central bearing and so much more. Every feature of this innovative new turntable is designed to extract the maximum amount of information and detail from your vinyl collection. Each tonearm is meticulously hand assembled using custom Rega made tools and torque settings to guarantee optimum performance. This level of care ensures perfect tracking and maximises the amount of information the cartridge can extract from the record surface. Rega Carbon cartridge with its carbon cantilever goes deep into the record groove to extract all those musical nuances whilst minimising record wear.Plug and play counterweight setup ensures that this deck is set up in seconds.The atmospheric sound of a Rega playing vinyl brings the music to life. Rega turntable is now bench tested for a minimum of 12 hours in the Rega factory in England prior to packing and shipping to ensure quality control. The sound of this turntable is dynamic, straightforward and honest, with a very good balance of the entire range. The main star of this turntable is, in fact, a tone arm. Rega’s tone arms have traditionally offered perhaps the best performance and price-performance ratio.The RB220 tonearm incorporates new ultra low friction, Rega-designed, bespoke, zero play ball-bearings, housed within a new stiffer and lightweight bearing housing. 

 Each tonearm is meticulously hand assembled using custom Rega made tools and torque settings to guarantee optimum performance. This level of care ensures perfect tracking and maximises the amount of information the cartridge can extract from the record surface. Rega Carbon cartridge with its carbon cantilever goes deep into the record groove to extract all those musical nuances whilst minimising record wear.There is also an upgraded platter with a new floating glass ‘Optiwhite’ design.

The Rega delivers the bass line with punch.The Rega is big-sounding enough for lush electronic soundscapes laced with synth chords to sound bold and atmospheric too. Tonearm - Featuring the brand new RB220 tonearm which is packed with groundbreaking new features. Incorporating new ultra low friction, Rega designed, bespoke, zero play ball bearings (Patent Pending), housed within a brand new, stiffer and lightweight bearing housing which was developed with a new automatic bias setting negating the need for the user to set bias, making it almost completely plug and play apart from simple arm balancing. The new housing also includes an integrated arm clip and uses Rega's latest custom aluminium arm tube.

Hub bearing - The Planar 2 has a new 11mm self securing brass bearing (Patent Pending) offering improved fit and less stress on the bearing preventing the transfer of potential energy.

Plinth - High gloss acrylic laminated plinth, stiffer and vastly improved appearance with ergonomically positioned power switch. Two plinth finishes at launch: gloss black & gloss white

Motor - New 24v low noise, low vibration motor assembly and new PCB.

Platter - New float glass ‘Optiwhite’ 10mm – Improved accuracy platter.
