What Is DAB+ Digital Radio?

DAB+ is the most widely accepted radio standard worldwide,on air in more than 40 countries. There is widespread interest in rolling out DAB+ in South Africa and the Asia-Pacific region.

AM,FM and DAB+ all broadcast on different frequencies,AM uses longer wavelengths in the Medium Wave bands allowing the signal to travel further.AM,due to the fact the signal is bounced off the Ionosphere suffers from interference which substantially affects the sound quality.FM broadcasts on a higher frequency offering improved sound over AM.However the FM band is congested which limits it's ability to add new features and functionality.

DAB+ operates in Australia in VHFIII band and uses a far more advanced and technically robust transmission system.DAB+ allows broadcasters to offer their popular analogue stations simulcast in digital quality,as well as new digital only stations.

A very popular method of receiving DAB+ digital radio broadcasts is via a high quality range of tabletop radios and music systems from brands such as Ruark and Tivoli Audio. Both brands have excellent electronic technologies and high performance compact speakers that deliver the sonic qualities of by the DAB+ broadcasts.
