The Project Classic Turntable Anniversary Edition
The Project Classic Turntable Anniversary Edition
To mark its 25th anniversary Project released the Classic turntable. This turntable makes use of the traditional frame design which was established by the famous turntable ,manufacturers of the 1950's and 1960's.
Project launched its first turntable in 1991.The Project P1 was launched when nearly all manufacturers were abandoning turntable production.Heinz Lichtenegger, founder of Project Audio, believed in the superior sound quality of analogue technology. Most turntables from that time have been either plastic rubbish or frighteningly expensive high end products. The P1 was a simple design based on good materials, offering great sound, ease of use at a sensationally low price.Hence began the Project story of bringing great sound at prices everyone could afford.
The Project Classic features a two plinth design which Project claims isolate the sub-chassis and reduce interference between different parts of the deck. The design effectively decouples the motor from the turntable's main bearing and tonearm. It also has a dual platter - the main platter is machined using a special aluminium alloy and lined with special dampening material.
It also features a new purpose built tonearm and bearing assembly for ultra low friction. The turntable comes standard with an Ortofon 2M Silver cartridge which provides an excellent platform to extract all that musical information from the groove. It even has a new set of feet that are dampened and height adjustable. It comes in 3 real timber finishes being Rosenut,Eucalyptus and Walnut.
