You can now stream music from a range of devices to speakers around your home using a wireless connection - with no great compromise on sound quality.There are different ways to do this,different products and technologies,but one of the companies to lead has been Sonos,carving out a niche as a niche mass market,mainstream solution.

Sonos is an American company founded in 2002 with a simple aim  - to transform your home sound system for the digital age.It has released products and software designed to "fill every room" of your home.It's real bonus is the flexibility and functionality of it's products.

The Sonos wireless sound system works by connecting one single device to your home network to play music - from either online or local sources.Before adding more devices (up to 32) that all connect using a secure wireless network known as Sonosnet.

There are 2 types of Sonos players in the Sonos system - the all in one zoneplayers such as the Play 1 and Play 3 or the Connect branded products that can turn existing audio equipment into a Sonos zone.A subwoofer and soundbar have also been added to the range for use with your TV.All of the available streaming sevices are there to be accessed on the Sonos app.

Interestingly enough,Sonos have just opened a retail store in New York to gauge their presence in the market.It features a number of "houses" with different Sonos systems to show their versatility.
