There is no standard definition for what constitutes High Resolution audio,but it is generally used to describe audio signals with bandwidth and/or dynamic range greater than Compact Disc.Although there is no firm definition,Sony Sony describes High Resolution audio devices as those that deliver audio that's clearer,sharper and more complex than other music sources and closer to the original.

The Sony SRS-X88 is one sophisticated bit of kit.It has a S-Master HX Amnplifier which Sony claims will reduce distortion and noise.It has a Digital Sound Enhancement Engine,which upscales compressed files to nearer High Resolution quality.It also has Clear Audio + which Sony say optimises audio for clarity and separation.the speaker section is pretty impressive being a 3 way design including a subwoofer.

Connectivity is also good with an Aux. input,LAN connection and USB A and B.It supports Airplay,WiFi and DLNA,and is equipped with Google Cast and Spotify Connect.It's compatible with Sony's Songpal App as well which allows you to control music and settings on various sources as well as build a multi-room system using the SRS-X88 and other selected Sony speakers.The English HiFi Magazine "What HiFi" said of the Sony SRS-X88......."we like this speaker a lot.......there is much to love and much to recommend about Sony's SRS-X88."
