How To Play Records Through Your Sonos System
It is possible to add the pleasure and great sound of playing records through your Sonos system. The easiest and most complete way is to add a Sonos Connect unit to your system. The Connect unit has the standard 2 RCA phono plug connection to accept the leads from a turntable. As turntables output at about a tenth of the volume of other hifi components such as a CD player, you will require an additional phono pre-amplifier to go inline between the turntable and the Sonos Connect unit.Once set up this will allow you to play your records throughout the entire Sonos network in your home.
Sonos also offer a Connect Amplifier which is the same as a Connect but with an inbuilt stereo amplifier which will power a pair of attached speakers.
If you own a Sonos Play 5 there is an auxiliary input on the rear of the unit which allows for a turntable to be connected and played. You will again need a phono pre-amplifier this setup to enable a correct playing volume.
